High wind pushed a dead, rotten maple onto a client’s house and fence. Tanner rigged it and cut it off the house on the spot so the family could get the roof patched.
A strong wind pushed over a dead, rotten maple, and it came down on the client’s house and across their vinyl privacy fence. The trunk only just reached the roof, but it was enough to put holes in it. The homeowners called us for an emergency removal so they could get the roof patched.
When Tanner got there, it was clear this was not a simple cut-and-drop job. The trunk was resting on the roof edge and leaning on the fence. A loose cut could have sent the weight rolling across the roof or flattened more of the fence on the way down.

Tanner rigged the tree up on the spot. With the trunk tied off to a rope system, he made his cuts and brought the weight off the house under control instead of letting it roll off the roof or crush the fence.
With the main weight off the structure, the rest of the maple was cut into manageable pieces on the ground, and the homeowners could move on to fixing the roof.
Dead trees lose strength as the wood decays, which makes them some of the first to fail in high wind. If you have a dead or declining tree near your house, a planned removal is usually simpler than an emergency call after it falls. Tanner gives a free written estimate on site.
